Lakota Shekhar is Owner and CEO of Cleveland's Scene Magazine Best Burlesque Troupe 2021, Blackwater Cabaret. She is the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for her work on stage and off. Her advocacy for people with disabilities in the community also granted her The LBGTQIA+ Starlight Award for burlesque. Lakota is also the co-producer and co-owner of the DisabiliTease Festival and DisabiliTease Academy. In 2021 she performed in VHOF produced by Burlesque Hall of Fame, Love Letters to Legends. Paying tribute to living legend, Gabriella Maze. Lakota is the former reigning Miss Youngstown Ohio Allstar Princess 2022. Lakota is also the former reigning Miss Ohio Renaissance Rising Star where she placed as 1st runner up in the national competition, both titles are for her performance in drag. In October 2022, she performed in the largest national show for drag, Dragchella, with some of the top drag artists as the only burlesque performer. In 2023, she competed in Rome to become an international performer in That's Amore Burlesque Festival, winning the title of Best Stage Presence. She was granted the honor of judging the 2023 Burlesque Hall of Fame competition where she also serves on the board as an Accessibility Liaison Lakota is Burlesque’s Best Kept Secret!
